A1 Drafting is a division of BSC Consulting Engineers.

BSC was established in 1971 as a general civil and structural engineering consultancy practice under the direction of founder Harry Carlin-Smith. Our architectural division was first formed in 1973, and became known as A1 Drafting in 1989.

Over the past 40 years, A1 Drafting and BSC have completed thousands of commissions, covering a broad spectrum of architectural and engineering projects.

All of A1 Drafting’s design staff are qualified professional building designers and the Drafting Manager is a member of the Building Designers Association of Victoria. Our team includes Victorian Building Commission Registered Building Practitioners and qualified Thermal Performance Assessors accredited by the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

BSC’s Managing Director Harry Carlin-Smith, is a Registered Building Practitioner, Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia, member of the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers, member of the Australian Institute of Steel Construction, charter member of the Structural Engineering Institute and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
